About Nest & Cents
Nest & Cents is a small independent site about money systems that work in a normal household — not a bank, not a financial advisor, and not a course funnel.
Who writes this
We are a two-person household in the American Midwest. Two kids, one mortgage, one car payment, and a credit card balance we spent two years digging out of. Between us we have run cash envelopes on paper, then in a bank with named buckets, then in a budgeting app, then back to a spreadsheet. Every system on this site is one we have used on our own money for at least three months.
We do not have a finance degree, a certification, or a title that starts with “C”. If a page ever implies otherwise, it is a mistake — tell us and we will fix it.
[TO CONFIRM] Public author name and photo will be added here before launch. Until that is filled in, treat this site as anonymous.
What we actually test
- Cashback and rewards apps, run on our own accounts, with payout screenshots
- Budgeting apps, paid for out of pocket, cancelled when they were not worth it
- Printable systems, printed at home on a $39 inkjet and used for a full month
When something does not pay out, we say so. When we stop using a product, we say that too.
How we make money
Three ways, all disclosed on the page where they appear:
- Affiliate commissions. If you sign up for a product through one of our links, the company may pay us a referral fee. You pay the same price either way. Our affiliate disclosure lists the networks we work with.
- Our own printables. Some templates are free in exchange for an email address. Larger bundles are sold for a one-time price. We never sell your email address.
- Display advertising. Once the site has enough traffic, ads may appear. We do not let an ad network decide what we recommend.
What we will not do
- Recommend a product because the commission is high
- Write a review of an app we have not used
- Promise a specific income, savings amount, or timeline
- Give investment, tax, or legal advice
Corrections
If a price, a term, or a screenshot is wrong, email us and we will update the page and note the change at the bottom of the article. Our editing process is described in the editorial policy.
